Healthy Kids - The Road to Good Eating Habits (Part 2)

Developing healthy eating habits is more than just putting the right foods on the table. In this workshop we will look at the importance of food in the child care setting and how it can encourage and support child development as well as healthy eating habits and attitudes about food. Hands on food activities will be included. (It is not necessary to have attended part 1)

Jamie Brown from Penn State will provide tips on record keeping during the day on children's activities and behaviors to help improve assessment of children to help you better meet their needs. She will share checklists to use in your childcare facility.

Better Kid Care Conference
Saturday, March 15, 8:30 Am to 3:30 PM
The morning session will feature Karen Lindberg from Intermediate Unit #8 discussing infant and toddler brain development. Melissa Swope, Physical Therapist (Health South) will talk about exercise for children, sitting correctly plus provide some tips for spotting delayed development and what to do about it. We will conclude the day with some fun make-it-take -it activities.
Cost: $10 due with registration plus $5 for lunch (includes pizza, salad, dessert) or bring a non-perishable bag lunch.

Extension staff from Blair and Cambria counties as well as others will present workshops on 4H activities, team building, forestry, food fun, bugs, and diversity. First Aid

This 2-hour class will provide an excellent training on First Aid that will fulfill your first aid requirements for DPW. Patty Ross, a trainer for EMT's will share practical advice you can use in handling emergency situations with young children.

Thursday, April 10, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
If you are using your computer to help you in your business, you won't want to miss this session on quick, slick ways to get your computer to work for you. It is a hands-on session presented by Cathy Hostetler. You'll learn more about tabbing, columns, indentation, etc. to make your notes, newsletters, and fliers look like a million! Class size is limited to 10 so each person will have access to a laptop computer. Basic computer and mouse skills are required.
